Subject: While what you say is true regarding catch-phrases, please note that French official denials were also quoted. Now it remains to be seen whether reports or denials are shown to be true. The Post, on the other hand will quote "Democratic party sources" but rarely print Republican rejoinders.
In reply to: Chris Henry 's message, "A Classic! We go from the huge 32-point "France helped Iraqis escape" headline to the smaller print of "The Washington Times has learned", "U.S. intelligence officials said", "said officials familiar with intelligence reports", "revealed through sensitive intelligence-gathering means". All the tell-tale phrases of BS journalism. Never supply any facts if they get in the way of a good story, especially if it smears both Syria and France at the same time. What next? "Saddam Hussein is now a familiar sight strolling down the Rue de Rivoli", informed sources have revealed?" on 05:04:01 05/06/03 Tue

[> [> [> "wondering if France would take in Osama". Interesting thought. No doubt the French-Algerian population would welcome him initially. However some of his "home movies" on Al Jazeera showed him to be an arrogant racist. He's very fond of the arabic word for "slave" which some in the Gulf use when referring to those of African origin, Arab or otherwise. So he'd probably get his throat cut within 2 days, and discover whether terrorists really go to Paradise. In my view he's a creature of his own region, and will never stray beyond the Gulf or Central Asia. -- Chris Henry, 04:58:35 05/08/03 Thu (cache7-1.ruh.isu.net.sa/212.138.47.17)
