11.09 - IPC - Pat on the back for Melanie
IPC Windsor received the following email in regard to the great service Melanie McLaughlin, Employment Coach, has provided to her. The jobseeker stated:
‘Mel I want to thank you for your compassion and encouragement, you are a wonderful young lady and I do wish you well. I would love to send an email to your employer as I think you deserve a big pat on the back with the way you deal with people. You made me feel so much better after every talk you really are an incredible young lady.
I was retrenched 6 weeks ago and had the pleasure of having Melanie aid me in my journey of finding employment. It has been a very emotional time for me as I have never been unemployed for longer than 2 weeks and always found employment without any trouble, so to have someone like Mel take the time to listen to me blubbering and then give encouragement mixed with sympathy made it a lot easier for me.
I cannot thank her enough for her compassion, advice and encouragement. She is a wonderful young lady and deserves a big pat on the back with the way she deals with people, never trying to rush our interviews she made me feel special, and so much better after every talk and is really an incredible person. I know her job would not be an easy one as there are so many different people out there that you would all have to deal with but I can only say that this young lady is an asset to your company and I cannot thank her enough for her support during this very trying time for me.’
Martin Rowley, IPC Windsor Branch Manager said “This example shows how client engagement is the essence of everything we want to achieve. Melanie supported this client, by listening and acting upon her requests. An example of this is following up Angela’s interviews. It was determined Angela needed more time on excel spreadsheets – so at her next appointment, Melanie sat with Angela and showed her excel and taught her some simple processes. Melanie was able to orchestrate the placement by advocating Angela’s skills and abilities, negotiating some additional training and offering the employer a kickstart wage subsidy”.
