11.09 - IPC - Keep Australia working forum
NSW Regional Manager Olga Merryfull and Karen Badans and Krystal Sebastian Branch Managers of the IPC St Marys and Camden branches participated in the Keep Australia Working Forums in Liverpool last month.
The team had a very busy and interesting day networking with not only jobseekers, but employers, training organisations and local service providers all attending the event to help ‘Keep Australia Working’.
Over 5,000 Centrelink job seekers came through the doors to meet with a great array of organisations including; Registered Training organisations; MTA, Defence Force, Bunnings, NSW Police, local councils, Karen Badans said “It was a great opportunity to network with other local organisations motivated to improve the employment opportunities for local job seekers.”
What is the ‘Keep Australia Working’ Forum?
The Keep Australia Working Forums were announced by the government back in July 2009. They have been held across the country in some of the regions hardest hit by the downturn. This may be due to a number of factors; location, industry composition, demographic profile and economic performance.
The purpose of the forums is to provide a unique opportunity for business leaders, local governments, employers, training and Job Service Australia providers to discuss ways of maximizing opportunities for local businesses and workers and generate ideas which will facilitate opportunities to Keep Australia Working.
