Brent-

That is great! I think that doing things to help others is always a step in the right direction. If it can be a job or vocation that is even better. I find myself watching shows that my Mother used to love and it brings me a neat connection. It also reminds me of her. One of the things that I do is I work with organizations that were important to her: The Susan Kolman Breast Cancer Association, Meals on Wheels, etc. This also carries on her memory and allows me to stay connected to her. Sometimes I go to her favorite restraunt or make her favorite recipie. On her birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas, etc. I try to do something in her memory. I sing her favorite song at church, I plant her favorite flowers, or take those flowers to someone in the nursing home. I have made donations in her name. I show our family antiques at the State Fair; complete with the family story behind it. There are so many ways to honor their memory. Just remember, you can always bring them "alive" again with your memories and your mouth. My kids love to hear stories about their Grandparents. I was so blessed to know my great-grandparents, grandparents, of course my parents (both adoptive and biological). Now all but one Grandma and my biological Mom are gone. So, there needs to be a concerted effort to keep them alive with pictures, videos, and most of all traditions, and stories. Your family will thank you and you will feel great yourself!
Take care and God Bless. I hope that your education goes well.
