Hi ellen. I am not much of a computer wizz. How can I get a copy of the article you were talking about in the newspaper. The little magazine insert. I was just curious as to how old everyone here was when the show first aired in 1972? I spent the biggest part of my childhood growing up with the waltons kids. I was 9 when it came on and 18 when it went off.

For those of you YOUNG"IN's that werent born yet when it came on , lol maybe you can tell us if your parents or grandparents watched the show.

Why does David Harper keep such a low profile. I am two years older than him so I grew up watching The Waltons. I came from a family of 6 children and I am the youngest so I could relate to the character of Jim Bob.
I think The Waltons is the best series to ever come out on TV. I enjoyed watching it growing up and I still enjoy watching it on the Hallmark Channel along with DVDs that I have bought.

I watched the episode, The Birthday, today which is one of my favorite episodes. I was thinking about how lovely it is in this episode (and many others too) that the family all comes together to weather this crisis. My grandparents (one set) died when I was very young, and the other set lived far away from me during my growing up years. I have a bunch of cousins, aunts and uncles but most of them lived several states away. Therefore, I don't have that experience of having extended family close by all of the time. How many of you have (or had) extended family living with you, or close by when you were growing up?

Hello everyone,while watching this episode I noticed a few cute things. The scene where the family is sitting in the livingroom and having a good time,I noticed Olivia gently tickling John and then one of the girls poking Jason with her foot. I kinda thought it was cute seeing that instead of the show editing it out. Really good episode. Have a beautiful day!

Will Geer on Mayberry R.F.D. -- Kristi, 19:16:31 03/08/08 Sat [7]
Yesterday, I saw an episode of Mayberry R.F.D. that had Will Geer in it. It was two part episode called "Aunt Bee's Cruise." Will Geer played the captain of the cruise ship and he fell in love with Aunt Bee. It was interesting seeing him on that show. I think that episode aired sometime in 1969, a few years before the Waltons began. My fiance recently got me into TAGS and I've been watching that quite a bit. Now, I'm onto Mayberry R.F.D. But don't worry, I still watch plenty of The Waltons. I finished the sixth season DVDs. I am doing much better after this last surgery (Feb. 19th). My eye doctor said I tired him out after seven eye surgeries. So, he won't be doing anymore for awhile now. He had to put the silicone oil back in to keep my retina in place. It was detaching again and I had a macular hole. It is closed up now. The oil will be there for awhile, but it is giving me some vision and time to be back on the computer.

When Grandpa and Grandma were at the graveyard and arguing, the only two people who I think can be arguing and make people laugh. Anyway Grandpa finally tells her he has not been happy with his side of the bed all these years and that when they die he wants to be buried on the right side of her.

My ? is what side of the bed to you all prefer, did ya have to fight to get your side, lol Or is there a special reason why you sleep where ya do?

it was around the late 70s early 80s me and my family stopped in at the hamners home. we were luckly enoungh to see and visit with mrs hamner. she was very friendly and willing to talk. it was our honor to have meet her.we talked for almost 2 hrs. me and one of her grandchildren chased a rabbit around the yard.mrs hamner was sitting out back when we arived and welcomed us in offered us some tea and was the nicest lady.she wrote my mom a note saying we were there so people here would believe we meet her.

They sell it in the giftshop. Only problem is, I won't be going to Virginia anytime soon. I need a tremendous favor. If anyone lives close to the museum, and can pick up the copy and send it, I would be willing to compensate for time, and expense in purchasing it, including gas money. I do not have much history of the actor/actresses from the Waltons. I was wondering how stardom affected the cast of the Waltons. They spent many years on the set, in a family setting, with a principle/spiritual based script. How did this affect their lives, future choices?

Hiya All...Dad was taken to hospital on Friday as he had a heart attack, he's doing better but still in hospital, I could use a little of your prayers , like your faith in the Waltons at this time, the more prayers, the better....it makes a diference.............Thankyou !

In the episode The Sermon, which played this morning on hallmark. When John-boy is doing the sermon for the Reverend who is on his honeymoon with Miss Hunter. They show a view of the congregation and on the first row ( would be John boys left) sits Elizabeth and to her left a little boy, is that Pip the little boy who was one of the english children visiting the Baldwin Ladies and then stays for a bit with The Waltons on another episode, the name of that one escapes me at the moment and also is that Kami Cotler's brother?

I WATCH LAW & ORDER SVU LAST NIGHT HERE IN CANADA. (I BELIEVE IT WAS SHOWN IN U.S. JANUARY 22?)IT WAS THE EPISODE WHERE SOME WOMEN STEALS FROZEN EMBROS FROM A DOCTORS LAB. LOOKING AT THE DOCTOR HE LOOKED SO FAMILAR, BUT I JUST COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHO IT WAS, WELL LATER ON HE HAD A BIGGER SCENE AND I RECOGNIZED HIS VOICE IT WAS RICHARD MASUR WHO PLAYED IN "THE SYSTEM", WHERE JOHN BOY HAD TO DEFEND HIM BECAUSE HE LOOKED AT ANOTHER STUDENTS PAPER WHEN HAVING A TEST. JOHNBOY SAW HIM AND ANOTHER STUDENT SAW JOHN BOY SEE HIS FRIEND LOOKING.IF JOHN BOY DID NOT REPORT HIM THEY WOULD HAVE BOTH BEEN EXPELLED.
HE OF COURSE, SURE LOOKED DIFFERNT AND HAD A TERRIBLE WHITE BEARD. DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THIS EPISODE?
HE SHOULD BE INVITE HIM TO THE NEXT REUNIONS.

WOw, funny what a thread post can evolve into...I had no idea how my "what famous people have you met" thread would take on such positively entertaining and memorable encounters for you all, I'm so pleased to read all your stories...I feel blessed to have come across the folks I have met, and I have my reasons for not wanting to post my royal pictures/letters of thanks on the internet, so please respect that wish but I do treasure the moments with the Queen, and knowing she enjoyed my poems on the 2 occasions I gave them to her and to have met the Irish Rovers..I miss Jimmy ! I would love to meet the cast of Waltons, but perhaps I will in the future.
PS ..Bruno, your site is awesome and thankoyu Ryan for sharing your pix and letters from your famous collections...
And blessngs to the Waltons cast that do post time to time and the Hamner gang as well.

To meet folks that are sincere and dear makes the world a better place for all by being in it.....

Well my lucky day. In my mailbox after only 8 days of sending the request. I recieved a signed autograph picture of Sheriff EB Bridges "John Crawford". He signed it to me and put my moms name on it too, probably b/c I told him when she was alive she was a big fan and thought he was very handsome. She said they didnt grow them like that in these parts. lol Also a lovely personal letter, ( not a form letter) signed by him and he talked of the things I had talked about in my letter to him.

What a truley nice and handsome man. Thank you John.
I will treasure them always. ;)

i am surprised that no one here mentioned a little magazine insert in many of the midwestern papers last weekend that was an update of the walton actors. it was real lovely. didnt anyone get that in their papers? i know there are other midwesterners here other than myself.

I've just finished Season 2 and am starting on Season 3. I see that in The Caretakers, Ike is already married to Cora Beth.

What happened to the episode introducing her? I clearly remember John and Olivia going with Ike and Cora Beth out to dinner, then the romanace between them blossemed, resulting in marriage.

Was that a "special" and not included in Season 2 or did I somehow miss something?

Kristi's 7th eye surgery -- Lyle, 21:56:00 02/21/08 Thu [10]
Yesterday Kristi had a emergency 7th eye surgery, over the past couple weeks her vision had taken a turn for the worse, and she noticed a black spot when she opened her eye , well after a trip to the retna specialist he scheduled a emergency surgery, they found her retina shifted and put a macula hole in her eye, they did surgery, put in son silicone oil to hold her retna in place and close the hole up, Just one day after she is feeling good and hopes to be back here in a couple weeks . I read most of the post here so she is still in tune with the forum. Lyle
