I didn't know there would be the reaction to my thread about why they killed off Curt. I appreciate all of your feedback and I thank you for it. I can't tell you how happy I am to have found this forum. I have loved The Walton's since it first aired and have recently rediscovered it.

I liked the Tempest, because I liked Jonesy and the mystery surrounding the episode. I think it would have been best if it turned out not to be Curt, but someone else. It was better having him die a hero at Pearl Harbor than to have him live the pathetic existence he did in Florida. It's as if the writers didn't know Curt at all. No matter what happened, he'd had gotten in touch with Mary Ellen and his son. When you hear the words written in the letter to his son that was read when they knew of his death, the man who wrote that letter would not have turned his back on the wife, child and family who meant so much to him. Marriage is for better or for worse, for sickness and in health. He didn't even ask Mary Ellen if she could live a marriage based on compansionship She had the right to make that decision and not have it made for her.
