The Waltons always had high caliber actors on the show.
I think most good actors were in such high demand in TV and movies that many appeared in dozens of shows at any one time. A great actor like Robert Donner (Yancy Tucker) was in over 100 different movies and TV shows!
So these people will always be popping up on shows besides "The Waltons". We might not know their real name, but we always recognize them and say "Hey, I know that face. They were on 'The Waltons'".
Incidentally, Robert Donner was on six episodes of "Adam-12", Ellen Corby two episodes, and Helen Kleeb (Miss Mamie Baldwin) in one episode. I'm sure there's more!
