You know, I think about this when I watch the episode
The Heritage where Grandpa and Grandma celebrate their
50th anniversay. It's supposed to be 1933, which means that
Zeb and Esther were married in 1883. Now, most of the show
has Zeb being born in 1862 until the episode The Empty Nest that had his birth year as 1865 so it would match Zeb's age
with Will's true age at the time of his death. That would have made Zeb 21 years old when he got married and Esther was about 4 years younger than Zeb. John wasn't born until about 1897 or 98 and his brother Ben was supposed to be a few years older. This third child could have died infancy which happened quite frequently in those days and although it is never mentioned, it's quite possible Esther had trouble getting pregnant or carrying children, which is why although she was married in 1883, her sons weren't born until the late 1880s or 90s and why Zeb and Esther were so
attached to John and the grandchildren. Just a few thoughts
for the What it's worth Department. John V
