I am in the middle of a "re-listen" of VOYAGER right now, and I've been trying to decide whether Tom could have been on the ship going to Jamaica with Lord John, only unseen, or whether Tom was definitely not with him. Your comment has pretty much convinced me: Tom would never let him get into such a (relatively) bedraggled state, no matter if they were on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic :-) So I have to conclude that Tom didn't come with him. - I have wondered the same thing. I thought, well those books are from Jaime and Claire's pov, so they wouldn't necessarily know about Tom or notice him, as he is the kind of servant who won't nesessarily go wandering with John, per se.   - Very cool Karen, obviously someone didn't read BOTB very closely or they would know that Tom did indeed go with John when he went to Geneva's funeral. Tom was the one who saw Jamie leave the note after John's arguement with him. I love that Diana says she doesn't know when she really just doesn't want to say..bet she has Tom's future pretty much planned even if she hasn't written that bit. Anyhow, thanks for sharing Karen!       - Tom also went with John when he visited his brother's house and to return the sword. Their conversation along the way about the rats in the thatch on the way was very telling. Tom's worry about the people they were going to see (the rats that came down and ate the faces off babies in their cradles) and John reassuring him that they could handle themselves (not being babies, but sophisticated London gentlemen), brilliant writing! Tom is a very good spy in his own right and I love seeing Lord John using him quite a bit in that capacity as their friendship and trust grows. (NT) -- Jane, 19:02:34 12/13/07 Thu
