Subject: GOod point. I had forgotten about that. We know Jaime as such an honourable and good man, we don't see his flogging as a shame on him, so much as an atrocity committed against him. John would know, all too well, the stigma associated with it.
In reply to: kgp 's message, "The dread of shame and dishonor was the most distressing to John, more even than disfigurement or pain. These days is seems any publicity is good publicity and celebrities don't seem to worry about their honor or the reason for their notoriety. And to an extent this is encouraged by the market that snaps up the gossip mags and buys the tell-all books. John's nightmare wasn't the pain but the dishonor of being flogged. I forget when I'm reading that being flogged was shameful and a reason to be scorned by others. Jamie gets into that big row at the tavern in O because of remarks made by others about the shame of him being flogged." on 11:08:48 11/02/07 Fri
