The following quote is taken from Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade by Diana Gabaldon, Chapter 4, Chisping. Copyright © 2007 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.

Gerald Grey, Earl of Melton, had been a clever man. Of an ancient and honorable family, well educated, handsome, wealthy--and of a restless, curious turn of mind. He had also been a very fine soldier.

Sounds a lot like someone else we know. *G* You were going to get a week of quotes that for me illustrated the way Lord John's character grew in depth and breadth in this book. A major theme of the book kept popping up though, so I changed gears a bit. Today's quote is a nice jumping off point. I enjoyed hearing LJG speak of his father in BOTB. I think we see a lot of him in his sons.

And don't you just love how DG expands our vocabulary! No chisping here yet, but I'm sure this word will come in handy later.
