Subject: What I love about this quote is Jamie making insinuations to Claire. It's not written here, but LJG also remembered during this episode that Claire was agitated and Jamie was laughing. I went back to (I think DIA) and right before this scene at the campfire with J&C, Murgagh had built a lean-to for the couple. Claire thanked him for it and Murtagh shot back and said basically it wasn't for Claire, but for Jamie if he wanted to take his ease between her thighs, but not in the presence of the other men. That ticked Claire off apparantely, and then we see her in BOTB snapping at Jamie and he laughing...then his insinuations. I loved how DG tied this same scene in two different books.

  • Jane— tlk2vicki’s quotes are perfect for a reader like me because most of my favorite LJ moments involve his conversations with and about women. I am fascinated by how he reacts, and I think it has something to do with the “safe” thing you refer to. I know that whatever his reaction, it is not inflected with lust. It’s not that he isn’t sensitive to female attractiveness, but women aren’t “parts” to him, which is refreshing.   • It is embarrassing to admit that most of my "favorite men" don't actually exist. As wonderful as my DH is he can't measure up.
