I have to agree with you that this scene seems odd. It sort of disturbs me that John and a lover would enjoy flogging- it links John in my mind with Randall- an association that I don't want to have at all and here in lies some of the reason I haven't read these books- I like John, liked him a lot in V, and in some of the later books, I sometimes find his actions out of sync and I want to keep it as I liked it and fill in the blanks with my own imagination. And that goes for whats revealed about Jamie in these books too. Yet, obviously, I can't seem to stay away from the great discussions on these boards! I'm so addicted!
