Hue dropped down wondering is a blow to the head was coming. He looked up and gave a weak wag of the tail as he creeped into the doggie door. He slid inside the house, dropped the tennis ball and went to the dwelling of the stairs. He looked up and started to slowely make his way up. Half-way he stopped and sat on the stairs. He sensed everyone in her room. He sat on the step and wondered if he should go up. He shook his head and walked to the bottom, he sat up stiff showing he was a guard dog. His daggers were shown out of the side of his mouth. He slid down and listened to everything above him.

The tennis ball bounced a few inches away before things were silent. The fire went out and all was still. The clicking of toe nails were heard above, yet things were silent.
