I am prowling ebay now looking for a 52mm neutral density filter. one guy in Boulder has one for I think $5 but the moron wants $16 to mail it to me. Thats about a $13 profit in mailing. Guy in China has one for $8 and wants $4 to ship it. I got a problem with China but....

why am I not surprised that Ford is releasing the green Mustang?
Have you guys seen the 2008 Hot Wheels Mustang in red & white????? Quite possibly the nicest car HW has released in the last 5 or 6 years. beautiful even if it is a Ford.

I wil pick up the MotorTrend for that ad. I wrote to Dodge a while back and got a poster of their police vehicles. I found a guy who will make me a set of Truro Police decals but I gotta find a 1/24 die cast police Charger first.
I LOVE THAT CAR

it is amazing. They know in real time, how many people are on their site and how many bids are being placed. I don't mean they can look it up... I mean they have huge big screen tv's as computer monitors and someone is sitting in front of them every minute and they can tell exactly how many bids are being placed and what the total is. what an amazing company.

Data has been collected on all of the crashes that took place during the 2007 Nextel Cup Season. While some of the information will surprise you, if you sit back and really think about it, some of the data is pretty obvious.
First of all, some records were set this year. According to reports in USA Today, Martinsville’s 21 wrecks were responsible for a record number of cautions, with Atlanta’s 14 wrecks not all that far behind. In all, there were 240 crashes on the season.
Not surprisingly, rookie David Ragan recorded the highest number of crashes with 22 wrecks. I say not surprisingly because he is a rookie with little experience at the Cup level. That said I have to admit that I was a little surprised that Robby Gordon finished the season with 16 wrecks in 35 starts. While Gordon is one of the more aggressive drivers, experience should have played a part in keeping him out of trouble, but he still managed to wreck in almost half of the races he entered. Granted, like Ragan, some of the wrecks were not his fault but enough were. And you can’t really use his aggressive driving style against him because another very aggressive driver, Kevin Harvick only wrecked three times.
Why are we seeing so many crashes? There can be any number of reasons but there are certainly two that could be blamed. First, teams were running two very different cars in 2007. Everyone says the Car of Tomorrow is a completely different animal and that it takes a lot of getting used to. That could certainly account for some of the wrecks, especially with teams that can’t afford to test as much as others. Once NASCAR goes to the COT full time in ’08, I think the number of wrecks will diminish a little bit.
The second reason that could very well lead to accidents is the car itself. Who was the last guy to get killed in one of NASCAR’s top three divisions? Dale Earnhardt. When that happened NASCAR went ballistic with safety, and rightly so. But in doing so, they made it almost impossible to get hurt really bad. Ricky Rudd’s shoulder injury is the worst we’ve seen in quite a while. That’s a problem because many of today’s drivers do not know what it’s like to see someone get hurt bad, or worse. They are almost indestructible while inside those machines and that makes them even more aggressive and more likely to do something that ten years ago might have made them think twice.
NASCAR has done absolutely the right thing as far as safety goes. We saw far too many guys get killed in a very short stretch of time and something had to be done. That said, wrecks have always been a fact of life in NASCAR and I suspect they always will be. But these cars are so safe now that we take an awful lot for granted and perhaps that’s not a good thing. When racing was a little more dangerous, drivers displayed a little more caution.
I will admit that I find the races at Daytona and Talladega more exciting than any other races. It’s not that I like to see massive fifteen-car wrecks. I don’t. But the anticipation of that wreck is pretty exciting and I hope that never goes away. I am not one of those people who tune in to a race just to watch accidents and I detest people who do. But the very fact that it can happen is what fuels the sport. The element of danger is a huge part of what drives these men to climb into a race car in the first place. Take that completely out of the picture and I suspect some of these guys will find another line of work.
NASCAR did the right thing by making these machines safe. But did they make them too safe?

I got an awesome shot of a doe and a little one the other day so I went out and bought a 24X36 in frame and had the photo enlarged for Mom for Chritmas. It looks pretty good, although not perfect...

does no one develope film with chemicals anymore??????? Even the camera shop in town developes film digitally. and that means you cannot get a perfect enlargement and I don't understand that.
I have a 16X20 done a week ago for my sister and it was all digitized, especially at the edges. I asked what the hell that was about. she said its because it was a digital photo. I said no... it was the original that I had developed at that shop the day before. she said 'we develope digitally." What the %$#@ is that?

sing to the tune of Jingle Bells...

Dashing through the snow in my rusty Chevrolet
Down the road I go, sliding all the way.
I need new piston rings. I need some new snow tires.
My car is held together by a piece of chicken wire!

Oh, rust and smoke, the heater's broke, the door just blew away.
I light a match to see the dash and then i start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent, the muffler went, the radio's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusty Chevrolet!

I went to IGA to get some Christmas cheer.
I just passed up my left front tire & it's gettin' hard to steer.
Speeding down the highway, right past the county cops.
I have to drag my swampers just to get the car to stop.

Oh, rust and smoke, the heater's broke, the door just blew away.
I light a match to see the dash and then i start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent, the muffler went, the radio's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusty Chevrolet!

Bouncing through the snowdrifts in a big blue cloud of smoke.
People laugh as I drive by, I wonder what's the joke!
I have to get to Wal-Mart to pick up my layaway,
Cause Sant's comin' soon in his big old rusty sleigh!

Oh, rust and smoke, the heater's broke, the door just blew away.
I light a match to see the dash and then i start to pray-ay.
The frame is bent, the muffler went, the radio's okay.
Oh, what fun it is to drive this rusttttttttty Chevrooooooleeeeeet!

they are photoshopped. so really anyone that knows how to manipulate pictures could do that.

and don't say they aren't photoshopped... no matter what the photographer claims because

A: elephants can't fly
B: that picture with the Sperm Whale is so far out of whack it isn't funny. A mother and calf... and look how big the man is compare to them. In reality the guy wouldn't be as big as a pimple on the mother's ass.... do whales have asses?
But lets say the swimmer is a mile closer to the camera than the whales... then perhaps it would fit. but it still doesn't explain flying elephants. Except for those two pictures they were awesome.

NASCAR has rules and within those rules are a series of loopholes that allow teams to abuse the system. The most blatant abuse has always been the use of the past champions’ provisional. Originally intended to allow series’ champions to race when they really weren’t fast enough to get in the show, it has turned into little more than a free pass for anyone.
Before the provisional was brought into effect, only 42 cars started a Cup race. If a past champion didn’t need the provisional, then 42 cars started the race. If it was needed, then 43 cars started. But for some reason known only unto NASCAR, it changed to a point where anyone could use it. In fact, during Darrell Waltrip’s final two or three years, he was sent home while cars driven by guys who had never even won a race, much less a championship, were allowed to take that 43rd spot from him. Something is incredibly wrong with that.
Michael Waltrip took that abuse to a whole new level when he started his three new Cup teams in 2006. he announced the signing of champion Dale Jarrett to a huge contract and what he was doing was so obvious to everyone that NASCAR had to protect the integrity of the sport by stepping in and changing the rules. Waltrip signed Jarrett to drive the 44 car not because he is an awesome driver, but because he could bring those past champions’ provisionals with him so no matter how badly the team sucked, Jarrett would still be in the race. NASCAR put a stop to that by announcing that starting with the 2007 Daytona 500, a champion could only use that provisional six times throughout the season.
After Jarrett used up his lot, teams such as the Wood Brothers started hiring guys like Bill Elliott or Terry Labonte to drive so they could get those six free passes. On his Tradin’ Paint show, Kyle Petty said it was wrong but it’s clearly within the rules and if he had to, he’d put Bobby Labonte in the 45 car so he could use his provisionals if Petty fell out of the top 35. He said NASCAR needs to change the rule to make it impossible but as long as it was legal he wasn’t going to fall on the sword and not use it and anyone else would be crazy not to do it.
Waltrip has taken the absurdity needle up another notch. Dale Jarrett has announced his retirement but he didn’t quit at the end of 2007. No, he is going to run the first six races of 2008 so that he can be sure that the 44 makes all the races and perhaps get into the top 35. At race number 7, David Reutimann will take over the car. Is that abuse or what? But it gets worse.
The other day one of the most respected men in racing took it up yet another notch. Roger Penske has transferred owner’s points from Kurt Busch’s #2 car to the 77 car driven by Sam Hornish. So Hornish, who DNQ’d almost every time he attempted a race in ’07, will start each of the first six races while team mate Busch has to qualify for them. That may seem like a sure thing to some but what if Tony Stewart or Jimmie Johnson have a bad qualifying run the same day Busch does? They would get that spot and Busch would load up and go home while Hornish gets in the show with a past champion’s provisional that he did not earn.
That’s more absurd that DEI buying Ginn Racing, then transferring points from the 14 car to the 15. On Monday Paul Menard was out of the top 35 and on Friday he was in the top 30. And he didn’t even enter a race to do it!
Petty was right: the rules are there so they can be exploited, but it isn’t right that the rule is there to be exploited. NASCAR needs to change it fast.
Subject: wouldn't it be amusing....

if Jimmie Johnson wrecked during qualifying and Busch was so far off the pace that he needs a provisional? This isn't Busch's fault and I'm sure he's not thrilled about it but Roger penske has it coming. It would be hilarious if Busch missed the first few races because of having to use that 43rd spot...

that people have such a sense of everyone owing them something. It seems they have the attitude that if you give me something, it better be the biggest and the best with all of the frills! a couple years ago I heard a story about a family with a mom, dad and 2 or 3 kids that the dad had lost his job and the mom had some health issues. They let it be known that they could use some help for Christmas. A local help org. arrived just before Christmas to bring food and gifts to them. What they found was the family had gone to 6 or 7 churches and other orgs. and all of the brought food and gifts to them. The house was stacked with food and gifts and they didn't want to let anyone into the house so no one would figure out what they were doing. The kids asked for some very costly gifts and got most of them. I don't have any trouble helping out anyone in need, but it really burns me up when someone takes advantage of their stiuation like this family did.

a single parent family for Christmas. we all chipped in $5 and we asked what the 3 kids wanted for Christmas. If we don't have enough money a local store is kicking in for the rest. They asked for some pretty expensive toys. The other day I asked one of the group if the family had a tree. she called... the mother says, "The food bank gives away free trees but they only get them 2 days before Christmas so we won't bother with a tree this year." I said I'd cut one down on my property. So yesterday I go out in the woods... get snow down my jacket and damn near froze my... whatever. I cut down a tree and haul it in. They live in an apartment so I ring the buzzer and say I have a tree for them. the woman says bring it in and wait in the foryer. So I drag the tree in and her and her kid are waiting there. I said, "Is this your tree?" she says I don't know. is it? I said if you're from apartment 4 it is. so I stand it up and say, "Will this do?" The bitch says "I guess it'll have to, hu?" Then the bitch says, "Did you bring lights with you?" what? "Did you bring lights for the tree?" No. "How am I supposed to light the tree? and the tree is too tall. You'll have to cut some off." I said I didn't bring a saw. she says "You can come back tomorrow and cut it off." I felt like shoving the tree up her ass. I did NOT go back today to cut the tree down. Oh, and she says, "Theres snow in the branches." I said Twenty minutes ago this tree was alive and in the woods. She says "Its not going in my apartment with snow on it. Leave it in the foryer till tomorrow." Her kid says someone will steal it. she says, "Its not coming inside with snow on it." so I just left it there. I know its not really in the Christmas spirit but I kind of hope Rudolph craps on their carpet.

yours isnt the first. I think the contrast level is set to max on this computer. anything that is even close to shaded comes up very dark on my screen. That is "any" image. Not just yours. Hope you dont take offense to my little joke about Shadow.

Remember the pictures you posted on that H & G site? Most of those were so dark I couldnt make anything out. Not to say there was something wrong with your images, it's just my computer.

Stock car racing organized
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) was founded at the Streamline Hotel in Daytona Beach, Florida. It was the first formal organization for stock-car racing, a sport said to have begun with souped-up bootlegger hot rods during Prohibition. Starting in 1953, the major automakers invested heavily in racing teams, producing faster cars than ever before: good results on the stock-car circuit were believed to mean better sales on the showroom floor. In 1957, however, rising costs and tightened NASCAR rules forced the factories out of the sport, and the modern era of the NASCAR superspeedway began.

Hendrick donates van to injured soldier: Nurses arranged John Hyland's hospital bed in Texas with safety in mind. And it's a good thing, the Charlotte native said, because he almost fell out of it early Saturday when he got a phone call from his mother. That's when Hyland, an injured U.S. Army corporal, learned that Charlotte car dealer Rick Hendrick had offered to give the family a new Honda Odyssey, equipped for handicapped use. Hendrick said he was moved to donate the vehicle after reading a story that described how Hyland, 37, needed a specially equipped van to return home to his family after he was badly injured in Iraq. Hendrick said he called Hyland's mother Saturday morning, minutes after reading the Observer story and seeing the photographs that ran with it. The story described how a blast split Hyland's Humvee in Iraq's Diyala province Sept. 10, crushing his feet and fracturing bones in his back and pelvis. He has spent 10 weeks in a Texas military hospital, but it has been a struggle for his wife and two young sons to visit him there. They live two hours away in Fort Hood, Texas, but they don't have a working car. Hendrick phoned Hyland on Saturday afternoon and told him he appreciated the sacrifices he had made for his country. He learned during that phone call that Hyland was a NASCAR fan. Hendrick, who owns Hendrick Motorsports, says he'll also ask Jimmie Johnson to call Hyland. The van -- worth more than $50,000 -- will be delivered to Hyland's wife Monday or Tuesday, a Hendrick spokeswoman said. The general manager of the company's Hickory dealership will travel to Texas to present the car, the spokeswoman said.(Charlotte Observer)

I mean... ok....

:-)

Thanks.
Tonight was the vet clinic Christmas party.
We went for Chinese food and at the restaurant we had to draw names for the secret Santa. Then the clinic manager gave us each $100. We had to spend $20 on the secret Santa gift and the other $80 on ourselves. If we didn't spend the entire $80 we had to give the extra back but we weren't allowed to spend even a penny more. I bought the Season 1 of the Unit and a picture frame that will hold 4 of my photos of lilies. I gave .09 back. But at dinner we had to pair up. The girl I was teamed with said, "You and I are going to know each other a lot better before the night is over." She knew something no one else knew. when we got to the mall the manager said, "pair up." Then she started handing out handcuffs. We were handcuffed together while we did our shopping. It was pretty funny. A clerk asked why we were handcuffed and in a low voice I said, "She was naughty." She said, "Yes and now were going home so he can spank me." The clerk's face turned beet red.
It was a pretty good time.

Michael Waltrip has one thing going for him that every marketing expert on the planet would love to have... it's the bullshit factor. The man can sell himself to anyone. The guy is so full of crap that he can sell anything to anyone... even his peice of crap race team and his own complete lack of driving talent. The man is one thing that no one can deny: he is a marketing genius. His ability to sell is second to none and I would bet money that if he applied himself, he could make far more money finding sponsors for other teams than he will ever make owning his own race team.
the problem is, he is so busy selling himself and his glorious bullshit that eventually he is going to sell to the wrong person. His world is going to come crashing down...

I will point to two people....

Geoff Bodine. He bought Alan Kulwicki's team and started running it. Times got tough and he had to bring in an investor. He sold (the idiot) 51% of Geoff Bodine Racing... and what happened? The owner fired his stupid ass. and he hasn't been back since.

Brett Bodine... also sold majority ownership... stupid must run in that family. And he lost his job.

You never ever sell majority ownership in your company. We call Teresa Earnhardt stupid for not giving Junior 51% of DEI but if you really look at it, if she'd done it, she'd be sitting with her thumb up her butt right now.

I think with these two investors, Waltrip no longer controls MWR and you just watch... he's in for it.

I saw a t-shirt today that says,

I'm trying to see it from your perspective but I can't get my head up my ass

We oughta get that one for MW

Hillary Clinton and her driver were cruising along a country road one evening when an ancient cow loomed in front of the car.

The driver tried to avoid it but couldn't - the aged bovine was struck and killed.

Hillary told her driver to go up to the farmhouse and explain to the owners what had happened..She stayed in the car making phone calls to lobbyists.

About an hour later the driver staggered back to the car with his clothes in disarray.

He was holding a half-empty bottle of expensive wine in one hand, a rare, huge Cuban cigar in the other, and was smiling happily, smeared with lipstick.

"What happened to you," asked Hillary?

"Well," the driver replied, "the farmer gave me the cigar, his wife gave me the wine, and their beautiful twin daughters made passionate love to me!"

"My God, what did you tell them?" asked Hillary.

The driver replied, "I just stepped inside the door and said, I'm Hillary Clinton's driver and I've just killed the old cow. The rest happened so fast I couldn't stop it."

When Joe Gibbs Racing announced their intentions to move from Chevrolet to Toyota for the 2008 Sprint Cup season, they held a flashy press conference with the entire driver and crew chief team present. Everyone said all of the right things at that meeting: everyone except Tony Stewart. It’s not what Stewart said that wasn’t the ‘right thing.’ Rather, it’s what he didn’t say that was interesting.
Throughout the press conference, Stewart repeatedly went back to his Chevy roots. He said how proud he was to have driven for them and that he had no intentions of changing makes for his Outlaw teams. He said no matter what happened in Cup, his other teams would remain Chevrolets. I watched the entire conference at the time and I do not believe Stewart ever used the word ‘Toyota’ even though the entire point of the conference was to announce that brand as the car he would drive in the future.
The reason I bring this up now is twofold. First, on November 30 the Tampa Tribune announced that JGR was trying to get Stewart to sign an extension to his contract. Stewart is under contract through 2009 and Gibbs wants him locked in for a much longer period. On Thursday however, Stewart said he has no desire to talk to anyone about any such thing during the off-season. “It’s flattering they already want to do this and get it done and out of the way, but I’m taking this off-season off. I need it desperately,” he told the Tribune.
Now jump to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Awards Ceremony that was held in New York on Friday evening. Once again, people were saying all of the right things. But something strange happened when Tony Stewart got before the microphone. Stewart took the time to acknowledge the relationship he’s had with Chevrolet over the years but he did not mention his upcoming relationship with Toyota.
A few weeks ago I got a peek at the 2008 Camry done up in Tony Stewart’s Home Depot colors. Until the moment I saw the car I did not actually believe it would happen. As I looked at the car I came to the conclusion that yes indeed, Smoke will be in a Toyota. But now I’m not so sure.
I don’t think there’s much chance that he will be in anything except a Camry for the Daytona 500 and probably for the entire 2008 season. But I am almost willing to bet that it will be his last season in a JGR race car.
It seems unreasonable to me that a solid contender and a real champion would be satisfied driving a car that right now doesn’t even look capable of making every race.
“Let's go win at Daytona. That’s our philosophy,” Senior Vice President of Toyota Racing Development, Lee White said last week. “We expect to go to Daytona with a shot, not only at the big race but a couple of the qualifiers, maybe the shootout and maybe sit on the pole, too. Let's do it all.”
That’s really shooting for the moon. Heck, that’s shooting for the entire solar system, considering Michael Waltrip is so unsure of his teams that he isn’t letting David
Reutimann take over the 44 car until after the first five races of the season. Dale Jarrett is going to run them in case the cars are once again so bad that they need Jarrett’s past Champion’s Provisional to get them in the races. Things will really be interesting if all of the 2008 Toyotas are just as bad as the 2007 versions and Tony Stewart has to start using the 43rd starting spot. I can’t help but wonder how many of those provisionals Stewart would use before saying enough is enough and quits his job.

Kyle Busch and Steve Wallace Disqualified at Snowball Derby: Steven Wallace and Kyle Busch's cars were both disqualified in post-qualifier tech after initially making it into the field. Kyle Busch wasn't too happy. He was tossed from the event due to a height infraction. Both Busch and Steven Wallace were very irate in the pit area and told Speed51.com that they are displeased with Ricky Brooks (head tech inspector) and his philosophies. Steven Wallace was found to be light when crossing the scales after tech. They let the team roll off the scales and roll back on. During that time he was caught trying to put sockets in his pockets.

It might be a good idea for Mr. White to spend as much time in the shop as he does in front of the mirror rehearsing his pep rally speeches.

Sure, go win Daytona.

But you have to do a few menial things first to accomplish that Mr. White:

1. Build a car that's capable.
2. Qualify.
2A: Make sure car mentioned in (1) can last 500 miles.
3. Hire a driver(s) that can take that capable car(s) to a checkered flag without wrecking it.
4. To accomplish #3, FIRE Waltrip and Jarrett and increase chances considerably.
5. If Daytona doesn't pan out, blame Waltrip, pin the hopes on Gibbs, re-write pep rally speach to go for the 2008 Championship, then quit.

Taken from an internet story (White is head of TRD):

Toyota enjoyed more success on superspeedways such as Talladega than short tracks and road courses, where maintaining power through turns was a problem. Toyota says it has a handle on that issue.

"Let's go win at Daytona. That's our philosophy," White said. "We expect to go to Daytona with a shot, not only at the big race but a couple of the qualifiers, maybe the shootout and maybe sit on the pole, too. Let's do it all."

Just an opinion, but I think they should be more worried about getting all of their cars in the race than winning everything there is.... but I supposed wishing is good too.

I was sure that right after homestead I saw that Kyle finished 34th in owners points. oh well. 35th is good tood. at least we're in. He would have done better if McCumbee was in the car for those 4 races instead of Andretti.

I got this in an email from a buddy back home

Simple Home Remedies
1. If you are choking on an ice cube simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat. Presto! The blockage will instantly remove itself.

2. Avoid cutting yourself slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold while you chop.

3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs about lifting the toilet seat by using the shower.

4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.

5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough.

7. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it
shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

8. Remember: Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Daily Thought: SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

The agility club president had her truck painted last month... club colors and all. pictures of our dogs all over it.

we decided not to have a float in the parade. Instead, someone drove the truck. we put an 8 foot A frame on wheels and 2 guys pulled it along the route behind the truck. Behind that were six ladies... mothers, wives etc of club members... they were each holding a hoola hoop that was covered in Christmas lights. Everytime the parade stopped... which was often, the girls would line up and dogs would jump through the hoops, over the A frame and then run back to its owner. We must have done that 50 times or more during the parade. I said to someone, "We're getting bigger cheers tonight than we do at our shows."

Today we were informed that we won Best Float.

I just know that some company that spent ten grand on a float is gonna be pissed. Monday or Tuesday we have to get our photos taken for the paper.

these pains are the reason I had my gall bladder out a couple of years ago. Its been more than 2 full days now and I had a God awful pain this evening.
If these headaches keep up I won't make it 2 weeks. If I keep having pains I ain't even gonna try.

Skip and Sheba were great as usual.

The doctor did warn me about the headaches, although he didn't tell me how severe they would be. This is just wrong. I told mom last night that I didn't know if I was goingto get thru the 2 weeks.
Also last night I had one of the pains. It had been more than 36 hoours without caffiene so I am sure its not out of my system yet, but I did have one.

should have warned you that detoxing from caffiene causes headaches. They CAN be quite severe. My prayers go out to you Rick. I hope in the long run you feel better...dont think it will happen before the parade though.

Actually I told him I didn't think I could do it. He told me to make an appointment for 2 weeks and we'll see. This is going to be an unpleasant 2 weeks.

IDIOT SIGHTING: Hubby and I had to have the garage door repaired. The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a "large" enough motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower. He shook his head and said, "Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower." I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4. He said, "NO, it's not. Four is larger than two." We haven't used Sears repair since.
IDIOT SIGHTING: I live in a semi rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the Deer Crossing sign on our road. The reason: "Too many Deer are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore." From Kingman , KS
IDIOTS IN FOOD SERVICE: My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco. She asked the person behind the counter for "minimal lettuce." He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg. He was a Chef? Yep... From Kansas City.
IDIOT SIGHTING: I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, "Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?" To which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?" He smiled knowingly and nodded, "That's why we ask." Happened in Birmingham, Alabama.
IDIOT SIGHTING: The stoplight on the corner buzzes when its safe to cross the street. I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine. She asked if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, "What on earth are blind people doing driving?!" She was a probation officer in Wichita , KS.
IDIOT SIGHTING: At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker: She was leaving the company due to "downsizing" Our manager commented cheerfully, "This is fun. We should do this more often." Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare. This was a group at Texas Instruments.
IDIOT SIGHTING: I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself, and for the sake of her own life, couldn't understand why her system would not turn on. A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriffs office no less.
IDIOT SIGHTING: When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. "Hey," I announced to the technician, "Its open!" His reply, "I know - I already got that side." This was at the Ford dealership in Canton , Mississippi.

NASCAR NOT for sale: NASCAR says speculation that its family-owned company is for sale to the same European private equity firm that owns the Formula One group is "unequivocally false." A recent report in the racing business newsletter The Business of Motorsport, suggested that CVC Capital Partners, which manages funds internationally totaling more than $23.7 billion, was the "most-likely buyer" of NASCAR, Inc. from the France family. NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston, quoting a conversation he had on the matter with chairman Brian France, said France's reaction was an emphatic no. "[France said] It's a dead end story that has nothing remotely accurate," Poston said. "I spoke with Brian. NASCAR is not for sale." CVC representatives, reached in the company's New York office Friday, chose not to comment on the matter. CVC Capital Partners opened its first US office in Manhattan in March "to expand its American business," and already has purchased the luggage company Samsonite for $1.7 billion. CVC also recently bought the GP2 racing series for $300 million, and the report states that speculation has surfaced that they're also contemplating purchasing the sanctioning body that owns the Dakar Rally and Tour de France cycle race.(Marty Smith/ESPN.com)(11-18-2007)

oh yeah, never believe anything until someone in authority denies it.
I will say this though, for the sake of this sport, we had best hope that the France family does NOT sell tothese clowns. The sport will die. Can you imagine nascar being run like F-1?? Four team cars must all have the same sponsor. Car winning the race must stop on the track to allow the second place car to win so he can win the championship. Eight cars showing up for a race. Say what you want about the France family... they have not killed American stock car racing. F-1 would.
