His words struck back just as hard as hers had. She was right then, final question layed into place as her eyes unglazed and she turned to Damuthca.

For a moment, she hesitated.

Dropping to her knees next to Damuthca, she very gently picked up his head and laid it in her lap, garnet wings slowly feathering and resting around the two of them.

"You should have let me." Was all she said.

She wouldn't hurt them, but she sure as hell would die for them.
