She didn't hear the snake, but what Aphrodite did hear was the "mip" sounds her pups were making, and the sound made her swing around and charge blindly into that that would dare threaten her pups.

Tiny flickering orbs flickered in and out of sight around each cub, a tiny, weak field of null flickering in and out exsistance. It was only strong enough to repel for a second with a small stinging sensation.
