Gromish sat in a rough looking chair, face blotchy with rage beneath his beard. He wasn't overly pleased that Lashana was there, and was furious that Tengreth had let her stay. Of course the fact that Gromish didn't much like the Forgotten woman might have had something to do with it. He couldn't exactly kick her out though, there were too many dwarves that liked her and then there was that little power of hers to control the earth. He ~really~ didn't want to piss her off and make her do something he'd regret...... like collapsing tunnels. He was fairly certain that if she did that though she'd make sure the tunnels were empty first....well maybe empty. If she was angry enough she might drop a tunnel on ~his~ head. Made it difficult to kick her out. Running a hand through his white streaked black hair he grimaced, he didn't want to deal with her right now and he wasn't going to be able to put it off.
~"What'd ye want wench? Tha treaty betwixt yur people an mine ain't valid no more. Yur queenie's daughter made sure o' that. Yur jist lucky yur Clan, otherwise ye'd have been kicked out on yur ear."~
"Gromish don't call me wench. And the Regent Emillia made several mistakes, one of which was driving out our friends and allies. She saw betrayal everywhere. Someone sabotaged things from within and those she thought were allies weren't as trustworthy as they seemed. She was assassinated and now Tyrsis is in charge."
The only reason Lashana knew that was because she'd felt the ripple in the Weave when Emillia was killed and was guessing about Tyrsis. She was the logical choice, she had battle experience, the guards and knights knew her and respected her and with her gift of foresight she'd be able to head off major problems before they got out of hand. Yomi stood next to Lashana, hands holding the soft fabric covering Lashana's legs. The child was quiet and Lashana wondered what she was thinking.
"Gromish, I'm here because I'm hoping we can.... fix things. I'd rather have our peoples be allies rather than enemies. Besides, you can't tell me you and your dwarves didn't enjoy the fight. I've never seen any of you back away from a good fight and I'm betting you never have either."
~Ain't tha point an ye bloody well know it. As fer fixin, ain't gonna happen."~
"Gromish why are you being so stubborn? It's not like you to be this obstinate about something so petty. Mistakes were made and reparations are being offered. I'll even toss my own offer in. Forgive the insult Emillia gave you and I'll find you a vein of any ore you want. Or if I can't find you a decent vein of ore I'll bring one up so you can mine it. Think about it before you answer."
Gromish wasn't happy, but the offer of easy mining pulled at him. They'd been having trouble lately getting decent ores for their forges, maybe he could get her to bring up more than one.
~"If'n ye bring up two veins tha insult'll be fergiven. Deal?"~
Lashana hid a grin, that had been too easy. Of course she'd known about the shortage, though she also knew that if they dug for just a bit longer they'd strike a rather large vein of mithral. She could bring a vein of iron ore to the surface, or near one of their tunnels that was nearly mined out easily enough.
"Deal. Now maybe you should send messengers to those you've told to shoot Forgotten's on sight letting them know that all's forgiven?"
~"Yea I should. Consider it done."~
Lashana was glad it was that easy. Relations would still be strained between the forgottens and the dwarves but that was to be expected. At least they wouldn't be trying to kill each other on sight though.
