"Leave."

The guard looked uncertain at Tyrsis' command. Behind her, Aphrodite looked terrified. Somewhere, in the back of her mind, Tyrsis might have laughed at a wyrd being afraid of something, but for the moment things were more serious than that.

"Aphrodite stays with me. Leave." She repeated it, more firmly then before. Once more, the guard hesitated and Tyrsis understood why. "If Emillia has a problem with her staying, she can come to me about it. I will make sure you aren't held responsible."

She had led these men in battle, called out the formations they should take even as she had fought beside them. They had seen she and Aphrodite hold the gate, alone for nearly half of the battle before someone could come and assist them.

Betrayal was a hard thing to swallow, but the look in the guard's eyes spoke volumes. He didn't know who he would be betraying if he allowed Aphrodite to stay, or forced her to leave. Those behind him were waiting, his word the deciding factor of their own. They couldn't be at fault if he had made the decision.

Tyrsis chose to make it for him.

"Aphrodite stays with me, now get the hell out of here and thats an order." Her tone was severe, a practiced snap making him turn and take three steps before he realized what he was doing. A general had given an order and he had been trained to obey. His only options were to go back, looking foolish in front of his entire command and directly disobeying someone who currently outranked him, or to keep going and allow Tyrsis to take the responsibility she ahd placed on herself by giving an order.

He kept walking.
