It is a great workshop, with a good speaker who are very experienced in anti-discrimination law.

There are many things covered in this lesson.

1. Hong Kong already have a Ordinance called "Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance 1991", which followed the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). This oridance is the foundation of establishing any law that protect human rights of the people of Hong Kong.

2. What is Discrimination?

In the eye of the law, to prove there is discrimination, you will need to establish the followings:

a. Ground
b. Application
c. Detriment

3. What should sexual orientation Ordinance covers?

Discrimination based on sexual orientation

a. What is sexual orientation?

Homosexuality, Heterosexuality, Bisexuality.

b. What is not include in sexual orientation?

Paraphilias - Paraphilias include fantasies, behaviors, or sexual urges focusing on unusual objects, activities, or situations.

Paraphilias is not a form of sexual orientation. Those who used this to argue against legislating anti-discrimination law based on sexual orientation is trying to confuse the issues.

4. The existing anti-discrimination ordinance

a. 性別歧視條例
b. 殘疾歧視條例
c. 家庭崗位歧視條例

(The anti-racial discrimination ordinance is still open to consultation from the public, and the deadline is on Feb 8 2005).
