"Think about it, why is it so different today than yester-year"?

Actually, the whole WORLD is different than it was yester-year but I refuse to just sit and bemoan that fact. Of course it's true that Newburgh is a mess, but there are countless other small towns, and some bigger cities, in the same mess! It may or may not get straightened out, but how would it help if we all stopped remembering, and talking about our wonderful childhood here? It simply wouldn't help at all! Some people who visit here can only see the bad parts but, trust me, there are still many good things about Newburgh and the surrounding area. If anyone is bothered by what is happening here, they should not come to visit. I never left here and I still love looking at the river and the mountains. We have some of the best restaurants and shopping malls in the Hudson Valley. Downing park still has summer concerts, the recreation park is as busy as ever and the Delano Hitch swimming pool is beautiful and still enjoyed by kids as noisy and boisterous as we were long ago. The school system is great and we have one of the best libraries in the state.
So remember, YOU can let people destroy your good memories of Newburgh if you want to, but nobody will ever destroy mine!
