Subject: A little gripe...

... I goofed. I let the nursing rehab home here do my laundry. They stamp my name on my clothes. I only had a few items: t-shirts, underwear, and a pair of red sweat pants. Most of my underwear came back. But, my sweat pants did not. I informed them early in the day. A couple nurses and staff check my chest and saw that I had other sweats, looked at me, and stated, “you do have other to wear.”… like what are you complaining about? They had even offered me other 3rd world 2nd hand clothes to wear. My one nurse who on a couple occasions said that I worry to much and that there was nothing I could do about my issues anyway, again told me I worry to much and that if I do not get them back that I can do nothing about it anyway because everyone knows that is just how nursing homes are. She even told me about her mom’s nursing home once that lost her false teeth not even her bother who is a lawyer could not get reimbursed. I get most of my clothes from “Land’s End”. The sweat pants cost $30.

Now, there is chance that I will be moved out of my isolation single bed room because my Vancomycin treatment is over. I still have that MERCA infection, but it is “colonized” now. I will always have this. If I get any kind of staff infection the MERCA can reactivate. MERCA is not wide spread in the community and is still most confined to hospitals, which is where I picked it up. I do not know if I have acronym MERCA right. It is a highly antibiotic resistant bacterium. If it ever gets resistant to Vancomycin, I will be a walking dead man for Vancomycin is the only one that will check the bacterium.

I still on strict “Toe touch” restriction, which mean I can use crutches but with no pressure on my bad leg at all. The pain in my fractured pelvis is subsiding some now. I am already secretly putting a little pressure on my bad leg. I even am taking tiny mini steps. I want to be ready to book if I need to. I have the calling card of another rehab doc. Tuesday I am going to an out of house orthopedic surgeon for a follow up. If I can do that then, I can go home and do physical therapy on an outpatient basis. I will miss out on the two great occupational and physical therapists here. But, I will be home. I already have mastered their mock stairs here on one leg using crutches.

Thanks for listening,
RICHARD
