Subject: On the homefront...VENTING

OK..I have been totally understanding of Ali and her needs. She has a part time job on the weekends...from 1:00pm till 7:00 pm Saturday and Sunday...

She had two weeks off at Christmas...didnt' work all the time then, but still did not get her homework done.

She does not do much around the house at all...we expect her to do dishes once in awhile...but that is it...no other cleaning. AND she is to try to spend time with her little sister...not necessarily babysitting...but just time. Dayel adores her...so we ask her to spend time with her. AND God help her, if she kept her room clean.

I have a few rules, - don't eat in your room...hah, still does.
Don't leave your computer on all night...yah, right...she is on that thing pretty late most nights...
Call us if you are going to be late or if you are going to a friends...Sometimes she walks in late. She calls the first night she is going to be away..and then...like over the holidays..came home 2 days later!
AND now, Dayel got 2 portable DVD players for Christmas, one from us and one from her "chinny" which is haida for Grandpa..my friend Marni's dad, just loves Dayel and they bought her a really good one....so Ali asked for the red one. I said no! She could borrow it when she wanted to..but it would be nice for Lorne and I to have one...and I also told her not to take it out of the house...she is not the most responsible kid and her friends are worse...they don't take care of things very well...well, I noticed that it was quite dirty the other day and went into her room to get it so I could clean it and program it, which we hadn't done...plus I want to watch a movie in my room...well, it is nowhere to be found...which means she took it to school with her! NOW I am pissed.

I also think she got her mom to sign a form to get her to drop a class that we thought she should take...

She is so lazy...she is 18...and wants to remain at home for a year, before going to post secondary school. But can I really put up with her for another year.

I love this girl, I do...but I can't stand laziness. I really cannot stand people that live in filth and mess. To each his own, but I don't have to live with them!

I am venting...she is not a kid...now...she is not doing her homework...and Lorne says, "She just has to graduate" OMG...just totally different values that I was raised with and believe in....if your not in school, you work...and what ever you do .....you work hard at it and you do it well! How are you to have pride in yourself or any self worth!

What do I do...I am living with a SLOTH!
