It certainly is ***NOT*** a bad idea in tennis as was suggested by the previous poster. It works well in tennis because tennis is a game where all umpire calls are based on whether a ball was in or out. All judgement calls are line based. This is exactly what Hawk Eye was made for.

As rugby league is far more complex a game than a line based game like tennis Hawk Eye would not be practical. End of story.
