Subject: Feeding our 3 donkeys correctly??

Not sure if this is a Q/A message board, but I'll give it a shot. We have 3 donkeys, and we feed them hay once in the morning, once at night. They get 3 flakes between the three of them each time. But even 2 hours after feeding them, they bray and bray wanting more food. Please don't come down on us too hard if we're feeding them way to little....we are rookies at this large animal stuff. In the warmer months they are "mowing" all day in the pasture, so they seem fine then. How many flakes per donkey? Thanks.

Hi,
Our horses and donkey have access to hay all times but you should probbley dependin on the size at least 2-3 flakes per day with grain.

HELLO, I HAVE BEEN IN THE DONKEY LIFE FOR 3 YRS AND HAVE LEARNED WHEN THEY ARE HAND FED ALL THAT BRAYING IS GOING TO HAPPEN, MAYBE A ROUND BALE WILL WORK, THEY ARE GRAZERS, I WOULD BE CAREFUL WITH THE GRAIN IF THEY ARE GROWN, TO MUCH WILL GIVE THEM A LARGE NECK THAT WILL SOON FALL OVER, I THINK FOR GROWN DONKEYS A SMALL SCOOP A DAY IS FINE, THIS IS JUST MY OPION, IT WORKS FOR ME GOOD LUCK

dont worry you are feeding them right but it is just that donkeys are awlways wanting more then they need even mine did that but unfortinetly he died at 21 years old ect............
