Subject: help needed!

hi there ,i just recently aquired a mini donkey /mule? Thats my problem i'm not sure what it is . It has two white back socks and is a dark browny black with a mealy colored mouth and around the eyes. My friend says it is a mule as it has the white socks and no cross/line on its back but i don't know, any help would be appreciated !
