Subject: New to the miniature donkey field-need some answers please

Recently, we bought a 9 month old Jack at auction. We have him in a paddock just now with a pony and he doesn't seem to happy at the turn of events. He is no longer the vocal little boy that he was when we first got him. I am wondering if he would do better with another donkey to keep him company or will he eventually bond with the pony.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
