I just received a phone call and I was told the top five. Tangra, and past Miss INs, such as Tiffany Storm and Shani Nielson, should have made it much further than they did. First of all, Tangra was a talent prelim winner. With that on her side, she should have been it into the top 5...not to mention she looked fabulous in her swimsuit. It blew my mind that she did not even make top 10. My eyes teared up!

The thing is Miss America no longer takes the prelim scores into consideration. They use them for the top 15 which doesn't say much. They should do talent first and show what these women are made of. If talent counts for the majority of the score, then Miss America should highlight that first...NOT SWIMSUIT! They should never determine the top 10 from swimsuit scores! Once you have viewed the top 5 in talent you will see that the talents were a JOKE!

Perhaps Miss Indiana should take a different format in deciding whom should be Miss Indiana...Miss America does that currently.

I really thought Tangra could have done it. I have been an avid Miss IN/Miss America viewer for 20 years. Besides Tiffany Storm, I never thought anyone deserved it like Tangra did. She was the whole package and all the judges had to judge off of was her figure (which was fabulous!).

Miss Indiana needs to get with the times. They have passed up many strong women because they either had favorites within the directors (such as Sara Engerman, whom was a horrible contestant) or they had weak judges.

I am tired of strong Miss IN contestants being pushed aside because they don't have the "years experience" or the "inside connections". We have passed up too many future Miss Americas and Miss Indiana needs one. I thought Tangra would have done it, and she should have done it. That was Miss America's fault for doing the pageant the way they did.

I am very proud of Tangra and I would like to tell her in my eyes she is Miss America and she will go WAY BEYOND THIS CROWN!

You didn't see her interview, counting for 40 percent. Tangra admits she had a much more "difficult" interview than at state. Still, she did an AWESOME job and placed the best Indiana has in years. (NT) Anonymous 17:13:36 09/22/02 Sun

Actually if you go to the Miss America Website you would see that 40% of the contestants score (composite score) on Saturday night is from her prelim competition. (NT) Anonymous 18:52:40 09/26/02 Thu
