I think theres a bit more to this. What Yogananda apparently said is that during those 14 lives the tendency toward being gay is there, not necessarily that it will be a fact. Certain tendencies need the right conditions to ripen but they may not. Homosexuality has long been looked upon generally as a stigma in modern society. It could be even the desire to conform to accepted norms that would cause people with gay tendencies not to pursue that area of their minds. Or maybe they dont experience anything that would influence them to be gay during their sexual awakening and so dont feel that way inclined.
