There is a recording on paper of Prabhupad visiting Lake Shrine and he says it is nonsense. Most of the devotees think that of kriya but I had good times at Hare Krishna places. I keep my mouth shut and chant and eat. I had a few long time devotees there as friends and found them very sattvic and spiritual. They found I was SRF and were a bit troubled but accepted. Then I told them what mantra I did---in higher kriyas we do vasudev mantra which they also use when not chanting out loud. This satisfied him. Further, I asked why is no one entering dhyana and samadhi os Chaitanya often did. Why then try and say I am bad for attempting it. He was caught and smiled.

Bottom line is they aim for beginners or greatest good with japa or may try to control people also not letting them get their own experience like Pharisees of old.

Prabhupad accosted Kriyananda as it is written in "a place called ananda" book by Kriyananda. He insulted Anandamoyi Ma for allowing other dieties worship and said she was a fool. Later, she told him he had not the right to damn others and was after all still a chemist in mind. Kriyananda says on his deathbed Prabupad said "forgive me for my opulence' and also mentioned to another "why has no one changed". Kriyananda says chanting will not do it---you neeed raja yoga to roast the chakras directly of the karmas as well as yama niyama and of course devotion.

I think it is great to get a taste of India to go there as well as Ammachi events but keep your mouth shut as we should anyways as a kriyaban.
