It is all a matter of individual experience, ones ego and conditioning.

It is a two way street. There are past disciples of Yogananda that have gone to Sant Mat as well.

I remember one such person in the early 70s that told his story, he could leave his body and actually be with Yogananda inside, but found out about Sant Mat. He was initiated by Kirpal Singh and tested-was given nothing for five years, not even a little light. The desire to return and enjoy his astral experiences with Yogananda was very strong, but he did not. After five years Kripal Singh took him very high within far higher than the astral experiences that Yogananada had given him. To this man Yogananda was an astral adept only, while Kirpal Singh was a true Sat Guru.

Living at the National Headquarters of Ruhani Satsang for N & S America and Africa I heard many stories and read of many experiences, many fantastic. It comes down to one thing-

What Is Right For You.

I have found it completly true that another persons experience is of no consequence to your own pain and suffering. Everyone unfolds at their own pace and in a unique way, and it is not necessary to go through inner planes to realize the truth. It can be done in a heartbeat walking down a street. A human being is complete within him or herself, all of the planes and experiences are just subjective parts of his or her totality. It is really nothing separate. It is nondual but the mind make an appearance of two. For some people it seems Kriya is very effective in removing the minds conditioning, for some, other ways are better suited.
