Beware the extremely material and fundamentalist idea put foward by many (or at least by Kashi at Yoganiketan) that you need to touch your tongue tip to pituitary gland or top of nasal cavity to do kriya 1 effectively and get kriya 2 or even pratyahara.

Yogananda didnt teach that and neither does Panchanan lines that I am aware of. Kechari was taught to a few people by Yogananda not to most people. Who knows why those people needed it. He says much of the value of full kechari can be had by touching uvula. Anyone can do that almost. Try it out in meditation and see how it works for you.

I know of one person at least that entered kutasta with absolutely no indication of tongue rising.
