My kitty is right now costing us God knows how much $$$ for an overnight hospital stay (second night so far). We adopted him from a No Kill shelter. He was a Feline Leukemia carrier and so therefore could not go to a home with other cats and also could not be allowed to go outside for fear of infecting neighborhood cats. We've had him for about two years and he is approximately four years old (was a stray, no clue). He was perfectly healthy and we thought we were getting away with him just being a "carrier", and not actually getting the disease until this past weekend. All of a sudden he can't breathe hardly at all, and is obviously sick (last week he started sleeping a lot and not eating as much). Long story short, his immune system in compromised and he could have any number of various ailments/infections, which could cost thousands of dollars to diagnose and then either the diagnostics or the treatment could kill him as well. Lovely.

Just make sure you debrief Samsom on the way home. Dealing with crazy folks is probably a life long skill he's gonna need.
