 But TMIL was estranged from her family and used to tell people she was ENGLISH, though she hailed from Brooklyn, NY and her every syllable betrayed her non-Englishness. XH1's dad was English. XH1 didn't find out about his heritage until his grandmother died. He was not super-surprised, but he felt like he'd been robbed of part of who he was. Psycho.

Anyway, today, out of nowhere, we get an e-mail from BIL telling us to be there at 2 p.m. and bring dessert. No acknowledgement that he's had this huge thing and his wife basically forced him into intense out-patient psych treatment (8 hours a day, six days a week), no acknowledgement that we have talked with his wife about Samson not having playdates with kids he hits (no point in getting into the reasons behind the hitting). No acknowledgement that the last few times we've been there, he's been puking drunk and obnoxious. I'm not looking for an apology or to hurt anyone's feelings. I'm just feeling really apprehensive about willingly stepping into an insane situation and putting my child through that shit.

AND ..... my 19-year-old cat is dying. He's been sleeping for over 48 hours. I'd take him in and put him down, but he's really peaceful and in no pain, and I think the car ride in the cold would make his last moments less peaceful.
