Subject: Violating Distinctions in Christianity

I was thinking about the Bacchae and the violation of differentiations that occur in the rituals. A line from Teiresias reminded me of Christianity:

"No, for the god has made no distinction between the young and the older--all should dance. He wishes to take honour from everyone alike. In his desire to be magnified he discounts no one" (206-209).

Those lines are reminiscent of passages like Romans 10:12-13:

"For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, 'Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"

We've talked about how the gospels use mythic structure to deconstruct myths, but I'd like to "tease this out" to use a classic Dr. Jackson expression. In Christianity, is some sameness acceptable? Are the gospels trying to show us that even the most rampant sameness ever known on earth does not necessitate violence? That in rejecting violence, sameness can actually help us to love each other more?
