Substances and Herbs Used to Reduce the Appetite

Substances to reduce appetite have been used since the First World War. Soldiers used the stimulating substance amphetamine both to stimulate their fighting capacity and to reduce hunger. The same was done in the Second World War. After the last war, the civil market began to use amphetamine and related substances to help reduce the intake of food during weight loss efforts.

A. APPETITE SUPPRESSORS OF THE AMPHETAMINE GROUP

Amphetamine and related substances stimulate the alertness of the central nervous system and the impulse to external action. When zones of the brain dealing with external action are in high activity, signals are sent to zones controlling appetite, digestion and connected functions to reduce their activity. Thus central stimulating substances also reduce appetite. Since these drugs increase the bodily activity, they also help to reduce weight by inducing a higher rate of fat burning.

Some drugs of this group are also used as antidepressant, for example fluoxetine hudrochloride (Prozac).

Being central stimulants all these appetite suppressors also bear a certain risk of developing addiction, and of side effects like insomnia, agitation, manic reactions, hypertension, stroke, heart valve damage and heart rhythm disturbances.

Because of such dangerous effects, many of these substances have been banned from most markets as appetite suppressants, for example amphetamine itself, aminorex, fenfluramine, phenylpropanolamine and ephedrine. RIMONABANT

This is a new drug working by blocking signals receptors that increase appetite upon signals from neurotransmitters / hormones. In addition to appetite reduction it also seems to help smoking cessation for certain smokers. Severe depression may be a side effect of this drug.

B. MODERN HERBAL APPETITE REDUCERS

Because of the potential side effects of appetite suppressors from the amphetamine group, people often turn to herbal appetite reducers with a very long history of use in their country of origin without having shown the same side effects. The herbal appetite suppressors Hoodia Gordonii and pinnothin are two such herbal appetite suppressors of increasing popularity. Preparations containing these herbs generally also contain herbs that increase the burning of fat, or herbs that reduce the uptake of fat or sugar from the intestines.

HOODIA GORDONII

This is a cactus-like plant native in the African dessert Kalahari. The San tribe living in this region has used the herb in centuries to suppress hungers during long hunting expeditions. In the long traditional use, the herb has shown to suppress hunger without side effects.

The plant contains substances whose molecules resemble glucose molecules. When there is enough glucose in the blood, the brain interprets it as a signal to reduce the hunger. The substances of the Hoodia Gordonii give the same signal to the brain, and thus reduce the appetite.

PINNOTHIN

This chemical complex is found on the Korean Pine Nut tree Pinus Koreanensis, and the working substance of Pinnothin is pinnoleic acid, an unsaturated fatty acid with 18 carbon atoms, three double bounds and with the first bound on the fifth carbon atom (omega-5 poly-unsaturated fatty acid). Pinnoleic acid reduces the appetite by inducing production of a larger amount of the appetite regulating signal substance cholecystokinin (CCK), which then is released into the blood circulation. CCK in the blood is interpreted by the brain as a command to reduce the feeling of hunger.

Another ways CCK works, is by delaying the emptying of the stomach content into the intestines, and by giving signal to the gall bladder to empty its content with digestive enzymes into the small intestine. The stomach will therefore lack room for new food a longer time each day, and this reduces the urge to eat.

Methods in Practical Use to Achieve a Bigger Penis

A fairly common wish by man is to get a larger penis, especially in the erect state, but sometimes also when flaccid. The objective for this can be a penis of less than normal size, causing physiological problems. The common length of an erect penis is from 12.9 to 15.0 cm (5.1 to 5.9 inches), which is shorter that commonly believed. Other times a man thinks he simply will feel more well with a bigger penis, which might be right or wrong. In either case there are many methods used to achieve the wanted result, but none of the methods are well investigated scientifically, so that the judgment of the methods must be based on personal reports from men having tried them.

A group of methods are based on a daily stretching of the penis in a long period. The mechanical forces thus exerted will stimulate the tissue to get thicker and more robust, which is a basic response from tissues in all body part when subjected to daily mechanical forces. By stretching with a right degree of force, microscopic cavities will also form in the tissues. These will be filled with new cells so that the tissue expands. When stretching the penis to expand it, one must balance the forces so that they are effective, but still not make symptomatic injuries.

One traditional penis stretch method is sitting with a weight hanging down from the penis in a cord for up to half an hour each day. Usually one uses an elastic ring or lock around the penis just under the penile head to fasten the cord. One can also find arrangements that pull the penis upward with a cord and some elastic mechanism fasted in a belt around the neck or the waist. Using a too heavy weight or pull, using a too tight ring around the penis, or stretching too long each time by these methods can however cause tissue injury or scars. Also the groin area will be stretched, and this can cause unwanted expansion of the tissue also there.

Also manual manipulations of the penis so that it gets stretched and the blood flow is stimulated has a long tradition. One popular method, called Jelqing or milking, is to massage the penis from the root to the tip with a certain well calculated force. By massaging with one hand and holding back with the other at the groin around the penile root, one avoids an unwanted stretch at the groin tissue. You can easily find manuals with specific instructions for penis massage with the purpose of making the penis larger and more effective. Based on personal reports, one must do these exercises consistently at least 20 minutes each day for several months to get visible enlargement results.

A too narrow foreskin can be treated by sidewise stretching at the foreskin tip some minutes daily during a period. One must use a certain force, but not so great that it injures the foreskin. The method works best when the foreskin tip is elastic and soft without indurations or scar tissue. The foreskin stretch can be a very effectively treatment of narrow foreskin, especially in younger boys and men.

A method to expand the penis in length and girth is the use of a penis pump up to half an hour each day in a period. This device is a vacuum pump connected to a cylinder that one places over the penis and with the opening of the cylinder tight against the groin. One makes a partial vacuum in the cylinder which will make the penis expand so that it is stretched to all sides. These devices are also used to gradually correct problems with penile shape such as twisting and curvatures. This way the visible penis gets longer, but no penile tissue is actually added or expanded. One often also fills crushed fat tissue under the penile skin, which makes the penis thicker. After the surgery the penis appears to be moved to a place further down and it will get less stable. The fat stuffing can get irregular and it will reduce sensibility by shielding out mechanical stimulation.

For some men the problem with their penile size is actually a problem with inefficient erections so that the penis does not get well enough filled. In that case drugs to make the penis fill itself more completely during erections may help for the problem. For that purpose one can find pills, transdermal patches and ointments based on herbal ingredients to stimulate erections, or one can try pharmacological products to normalize the erectile potency.There was for some time a belief that penis pills also could get the penile tissue grow larger. Most, if not all, manufacturers have ceased to claim this as an effect.

About Scoliosis, how does One Diagnose and Treat Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a deformations in the spinal column that usually progresses from small deviations and get gradually worse. The extent of the deformations often stops at a moderate stage, but can in some cases get very severe.

Chiropractors and cranioscral therapists have a hypothesis that ideopathic scoliosis is caused by blockings that hinder the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the column, the blood flow alomg the column and the functions of the nerves along the colum..These blockings are often thought to be caused by stiffness or scars in the muscular layers, in the tendons and fascial layers around the column, in the meningeal membranes around the spinal cord within the column, or of misalignment in the position of the spines according to each other.

Scoliosis can also be caused by neurological and muscular paralyses or malfunctions, so that the muscles excert a different force on one side than another. Also inflammational or degenerative processes in the spines or cartilages between the spines can cause scoliosis.

The main symptoms of scoliosis is of cource the bendings and twistings in the spinal colomn, but other symptoms also appear that one often recognizes before one sees that the spinal colomn has got an abnormal shape. These symptomns are: Leaning towards ine side, one hip higher than the other. better developed muscles on one side than the other, deformities in the breast cage and unsymmetrical waist. Later one can get back pain.

The diagosis of scoliosis is fairly simple. One looks and feels along the spine while the patient is standig upright to see the curvature. Often the bendings can be seen right away. To be more sure one also lets the patient bend foreward. Where the spine is curved towards one side, one will see a bump on that side of the back, because the bent part of the spine will be pressed outward on that side. By letting the patient do other bends and twistes with the torso, arms and legs, a more complete picture can be made.

During this test the patient must be naked on the back and also on the upper parts of the buttocks. The very best for the diagnosis is a totally naked patient, so that on can also see misalignment of the buttocks that are assosiated with scoliosis, but one usually lets the patient wear underpants and pulls these down more or less at some point in the test.

It is generally recommended that children and teens are examined by such a simple test each year. In many societies this is done in school or at wellchild exams. But parents should do the test on their children themselves to detect a beginning scoliosis as early as possible, at least two times a year.

If scoliosis is detected with such simple tests, and it looks severe enough, one will often do more thorrough examinations, especially with x-ray imaging. If the scoliosis is minimal, one usually will only follow the development to see if it is developing further and how fast it is progressing.

With somewhat more severe deformations the standard treatments are exercises and braces. By scoliosis starting very early, one sometimes uses casting to guide the growth in a right direction. Cranisacral therapists and chiropractors treat scoliosis by manipulations. The manipulations have the aim of taking away mechanical blocks thought to exists around and within the column and thereby reestabishing a healthy growth.

With a more severe development one often performs surgery, by which the cartilages between the spines are removed, the column is stretched out, metallic bars are fastened to the treated sections and bone grafts are placed between the spines so that they grow togeather. The metallic bars will usually remain in place permanently, but can be removed later on if they cause trouble.

By surgery at a very young age, one tend to use bars that can be stretched further out throughout the growth without laying grafts that make the spine stiff.

Surgery imply many hazards for complications both during surgery and during later development, and small or great sections of the spine gets stiff. Often late complications lead to new surgery. A common complication is neurological injuries amd even paralyses. Surgery for scoliosis is therefore not something one shall decide for after just an easy concideration.

Navasota Raceway will remained closed for the month of January, We will reopen on Sun Febuary 5 2011 for Street racing an Test n Tune gates will open a 1:00 till.

Preliminary Schedule will be Sunday all the way through
April an Swithch over to Saturday nights Mid april.

Looking forward to hearing from some true 10.5 cars an big tire cars to get something going on a monthly basis.

Anyone have an ldea if they make a short starter for a 71' 302 w/ 4 sp man trans. l got burned for a set of tight tuck headers from a source in Sac. Ca and order a set of Southern Rods tight tuck headers. seemed like my biggest worry was stering box and linkage. All bueno on Driver side. Looked bitchen. Way good, oh chit, l dont have the starter in yet. Well, the one l purchased does not fit anyhow but do they make a shorter vs a longer starter? The one l have is internal solinoid. Hopeing a shorter one is avail w a external.

The Houston Mustang Car Club has rented the track from 2pm - 5pm to make some test n tune passes and to just have some good ole club races. Come out to see some awesome Mustangs and watch em run down the strip!
