I hear you on the railroad thing. How did our rail system ever get so screwed up? A couple of years ago, my mom considered coming out by train, and she also would have had to go far out of the way to do it, so she ended up flying.

Mr. Lynx and I have been assessing our location for a while, in regards to these things to come. We like that we live in a small town, but a couple of things bother us. We're in a national forest, of course, which requires fire protection, and that might not be available after the tourism is over. Our local terrain is not suitable for growing food, though we've done successful container gardening. However, within 25 miles there is much food grown, so that's a positive. An old survivalist saying says that you have to be prepared to dig in, but you also have to be prepared to bug out, and I think that applies to everyone's future. I'm glad I'm not in a big city.

Never fear grandmotherhood, Cass. It rocks. It has been my salvation. :-)
