The Republican Party of today bears not a shred of resemblance to the Republican Party of Lincoln's day. It basically split apart during Teddy Roosevelt's days when he got too liberal for them and created the Progressive Party out of the Republican liberals who supported him, leaving behind the far-right version of the Republican Party we have today.

And I agree that there are militant liberals, for sure... but almost every pacifist in the US identifies themselves as a liberal, and most folks who support going to war identify themselves as Republican. And proclivity toward peace or war is really just based on tolerance, or lack thereof.
