I'm not saying that I don't like the show. It's just ok to me. I don't get all of those metaphysical things you were talking about. I've never read or studied anything about it, so those concepts don't even enter my mind when I watch it. I just see a guy who's supposed to be some kind of an angel who dropped into the world of white surfer trash.

I can understand that it's about redemption, but what makes it unbelievable to me is that people like that wouldn't react that way. Butchie is a loser drug addict. If someone like John came to him, he'd be a lot more likely to blow him off than take him in, no questions asked. Freddy is a drug dealing thug. He'd show up, beat the crap out of Butchie, possibly kill him, and move on, and if he sensed a "shapeshifter", he'd probably kill him too.
