(He growled again as he watched the two of them, though now he was leaning on the rail and watching the white female with a yearning that he didnt understand. What would it be like to have her touch him with tenderness? To come to him with softness in her eyes instead of anger? He had felt that the night before as they'd slept in the grove together.. and he wanted it again.) Aye, the bonniest thing I've e'er laid eyes on.. and I do want her, Durgan.. more than any o'her lass I've ever laid eyes on. (And perhaps, his silence said, he was too afraid of that to let her know. He started to pace the length of his massive balcony, feeling the shift of his muscles under his skin, becoming reaquanted with each in a manner of meditation that he tended to do when he was upset. He wondered if it would be bad to have a single woman for the rest of his life.. for something told him that mating this woman in human form would not sate him.. he would have her as a dragon and make her his mate. But she wouldn't understand that.. she would fight him.. and what if she left? He would be doomed to pine for her for the rest of his life, unable to mate another while she lived and shunned him. He couldn't do it.. couldn't make himself so vulnerable to another. He looked over that wall as Durgan spoke to the two of them. His head cocked, and he considered things in the manner a laird would, finding the best path towards peace. He couldn't be her mate.. but he could be her friend.) Aye, I would teach her. (He would give her the ability to leave and let her make her own decision.)
