She wasn't exactly in hiding, she was just sitting on the bed in Evie's chambers, the whelps tucked securely beside her. She was more then confident she would be able to protect her children from any harm, should the need arise. Perhaps it was confidence that spurned from motherhood but she wasn't going to cower away in the corner while her husband went out to meet an intruder. A low breath escaped her lips as Dane's voice echo'd in her mind. "Keep an eye on the whelps for me? They are back." Turning, she rubbed each of the whelps before sprinting out the door and up the stairs. Heading through the door, she stepped up behind him, her hand on his back as she eyed the scratches on his chest. "What happened?" She questioned even as she reached for a rag to wet with warm weather so she could clean his wounds. "I was worried...the whelps are with Evie." Quickly, she assured him as to where his bairns were before she started cleaning out the cuts that were definitely made by a dragons claw. "Did he attack you? Who was it?" Her curiosity was definitely strong and it had taken a lot for her to go with the whelps and not fly out with her mate to confront the intruder. He was trembling with his anger when she was suddenly behind him and making that soft sound that tugged at his heart. Turning, his arms opened to her and he held her against his bare chest for a long moment before he pressed a kiss to the top of her head and finally spoke. "He has nay right to look at me with pity in his eyes, the bluidy bastard." Growling out the words, he tightened his arms around her. "Nor any right to apologize now. Tis to late and he kens that, he just wants to relieve his own bluidy conscience." He was angry that his brother had seemed so open now, of all times, when Kaden was long gone and settling himself into a new life that didn't include his brother or anyone from the Lallybroch clan.
