I sincerely hope that the new drug helps you loads. I know how it is when you have medical problems and the doctors can't seem to figure out what it is. That is worse than anything else I can think of enduring. It took them three years or more to decide that my seizure disorder was really seizures even, because of very strange things that happened during the events, (extreme swelling of limbs, inability to move at all and numbness when first coming to, and then the onset of horrific pain as the brain 'reactivated' itself), and another two to tell me they still were not sure exactly what it is but their best guess was Jacksonian epilepsy. In the beginning, all they could say for sure was that the mri scans showed scar tissue at the base of the brain,("maybe from undiagnosed meningitis or encephilitis") several years earlier. Anyway, they put me on vivactil, an antidepressant that had been found to work wonders with this type of seizures, and thank heaven it did work. It stopped the grand mal type seizures almost immediately, so I have not fractured my skull again, twice was more than enough for me. I was on the drug for about three years, was supposed to be on them for the rest of my life, but the side effects were getting worse all the time, and I weened myself off of it gradually and told the doctors that was enough. I have the petit seizures, (little "space out" type lapses of time ones), more and more now, but there is no way I am going back on that drug even if the grand mals start again. They will have to find something else, or I will start wearing a football helmet before I take it. 8^)
My prayers are with you that this drug you are on now does the job and does not have nasty side effects for you. Keep safe and take care.
Peace and love,
Betty
