據日本媒體引述日本動物研究人員的報告報導，在研究日本各地的十六個水族館與動物園之後，他們竟然發現了至少二十對「同性戀」的企鵝。
報導說，研究人員發現，在各個水族館與動物園當中，由於企鵝的數量太少，尋找異性企鵝不易，於是為了解決生理需求與適應環境，一些企鵝於是選擇了同性戀。
