英國人觀念越來越開放。英國首相布萊爾最近不但接受英國同性戀雜誌採訪，還說英國人可以接受同性戀者出任部長。
布萊爾接受英國同性戀雜誌態度雜誌採訪時表示，英國在促進同志人權上做了很多努力，例如給予同性戀伴侶等同異性戀伴侶的權利，但還有很多事要做。因為，同志人權已成為英國政治文化一部份。

當被問到英國人是否接受同性戀者出任部長時，布萊爾說，當然了。他個人認為，英國人可以接受同性戀者出任部長。英國內閣有過好幾位同志部長，現在也有，只是沒出櫃。部長級以下官員，也有好幾位是同志。
