well you should be taking notes, i'm a doctor here! it can go both ways in terms of manipulation and lies and feelings of inadequacy. in terms of your ex i believe that she was trying to turn you into something you weren't..her ideal version of what a perfect man is. as much as Dr. M loves books such as those sometimes it does put unrealistic expectations into our minds, same story with men. they see women on television and in movies and want women to be just like that. i still maintain my previous statement of finding someone who loves you for you, believe me there are people like that out there.
