You should have a mask that has a jell surrounding the outer edges; if you don't, go and get one. Then you can dip them in hot, hot water and mole it to your face. This helps alot. Make sure that when you ajust the staps that they are even on all sides; this is a must. Use a ruler if you have too. The only way to get use to the thing is to take a sleep aid every night for a week or so. This not only helps you to sleep but it helps you to get use to the mask. Another thing that helps is to add a moisture tray to the bottom of your machine. You can buy one from the same people who sold the machine. And third but far from last, get a form the will gradually raise your head from your shoulders up. I'm a side sleeper also and these things do help. I do sometimes get air coming out the sides but I'm so good now I can fix it on my face without coming all the way awake. I hope this helps.
