Subject: COSTUME SALES!

Ok, ladies and gents, it's approaching costumes sales time again. This is your final opportunity to make things easier this year! While at nationals, and you are taking lots of pictures of your dancer and their friends, please also take a close up picture of your child in the costume, front and back. Be sure to photograph close ups of only the costume to depict as much detail as possible. We especially need photos of solo, duo and trio costumes.

The most time consuming part of selling the costumes is photographing them on the mannequins. Dress, undress, flip around, button up, safety pin here and there, etc, etc. The costumes never look as good on the mannequin as they do on the dancers!

Just a quick note, due to copyright infringement laws, we are no longer allowed to display our costumes from Jassi in NYC on our web site. Apparently, unscrupulous people have been searching our web site and copying his designs. We don't want to jeopardize our relationship with his company and will abide by his wishes.

After nationals, if you are considering selling your costumes, please do the following. Make sure they are clean and have no loose strings or beads. If strings are loose, please tie and trim. Please spot clean and wash any briefs or bra tops that are washable. Please package your costume in a large ziploc. Make sure a name is on the ziploc and inside the costume's tag. Indicate the approximate size of the costume. Include waist, hips, bust measurement and length of skirt or pants from waist to bottom. Also include the inseam of any pants from crotch to bottom of hem. Please note any flaws on the costume and include them either on the outside of the ziploc or on an index card. Many moms included index cards inside the bag and this has been helpful. I would like to start collecting costumes as soon as you are ready to sell.

Once I see what we are selling and have a count of costumes and sizes, I will forward emails to the people in the date base I created last year through costume sales.

A general rule of thumb for costume resales, the better the condition of the costume and the more detailed the pictures, the higher the prices.
