Subject: Natural lift??

I have a training question. Do Friesian trainers enhance their horses lift if the horse does not have a lot of natural lift? By that I mean using chains around the feet, using shackles, etc. I know they are not allowed to use weighted shoes.
I only ask this question because I have noticed at a lot of horse shows in my area that there are a lot of Saddleseat Friesians with some pretty crazy lift. At one show in particular there was only 1 hunter Friesian in the Friesian pleasure class and the rest were all Saddleseat with above-level lift. This was a pretty big class...I'm having a hard time believing that every single one of those horses had natural lift that was that high. I'm sure some of them do...but surely not all the ones in that class, as I said, it was a big class. Is this some big secret that Friesian trainers enhance their horses lift? I have asked two people around here that are involved with Friesians and they both said no, that they are naturally like that and that the trainers don't use any kind of devices to enhance their lift. I kind of don't believe them. It seems like there were too many of them to ALL be naturally that lifty. Maybe they're just being secretive about it? I don't know. I'd love to hear people's opinions on this one. Thanks.
