Hi Earth Fire & Starski,

How worrying for you, it's so awful when our animals are ill isn't it. I hope today has given you some answers as to what's wrong with Starski. When my cat was hit by a car a few years ago, he recieved Reiki healing from all over the country, via my friend, Sue and it really pulled him through. I'm sending you lots of good vibes and special healing thoughts. I hope he improves soon.

Blessings,
Willow xx

Well he had vets this morning, not sure why they want him to have the test tomorrow as they could of done it today.
But he has had pain killers so that is helping. He did take a little water today. I used a syringe in squirt it in to his mouth. He wasn't impressed about that, but as he has had no water for 3 days I had to do something :(

Sending healing energy his way. If he's not eating or drinking, you should get some gatorade and mix it with baby cereal. Put that in the syringe and squirt it in his mouth. My wife did this for a dog we had that the vet said was dying. By the next day she had gained strength and lived a good number of years after that. It's worth a try.
((((HUGS)))). Good luck.

His drinking water yay, and has had a two minute wander round the kitchen :D. I think he is sniffing for food too :P. But the vet said no food :(. i may give him half a bit of toast. Just to kill hunger pains :P
Thank you guys please keep him in your thoughts it seems to be helping. We will know more in the morning as the pain killer was for 24 hrs. If he goes down hill again then it was the pain killer helping. But i believe you have helped in a big way. I love you guys, you are always their for help and comfort Blessings and thanks Pligrim, I will try that when he can eat again, needs to keep an empty belly for Xrays :(

Well we picked him up, poor little thing was completely off his trolley. General anesthetic is not nice :(.
But we have been told he has spine problems. Basically the lower part of his spin, where the disks slip in the gaps are to long. They go to far into his spine, thus causing a lot off pain. So he has to have anti inflammatories. This means that his legs will go sometime into the future. There is an operation but it is risky, so they want to leave it as long as they can. It's major spinal surgery :(.
The ironic thing is they want me to make sure a 7 and half year old dalmation has complete bed rest. Not a small task lol. But it's not life threatening although life changing we will get him through this. I'm trying to see if i can find a back brace for him, so it will control and help his movement. Vet suggested a cage (me thinks not)
I understand the vet is thinking whats best, but caging my dog will terrify him, so it's a major no!
Thank you for being here, i lost a dog a couple of years ago i couldn't bare to do it like this again.
Please keep him in your healing thoughts remember us when you light a candle and thank you for your love and support
I sound like a complete fluffy fool lol but i really mean it. Your all sparkly stars xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Earth Fire,

Starski is so lucky to have a friend like you to care for him! And although the diagnosis is a challenge, I'm sure you will do the absolute best for him, to make him more comfortable.

Thank you guys, we had an awful night with him last night. He tried to stand up and his legs went from underneath him. He couldn't get up and he was just screaming in pain :(.
We had to get him to the vets as an emergency. They gave him more injections for the pain. And im waiting for the vets to phone this morning :( He can't walk at all well when he tries he just cries out in pain. It's so horrible to watch. And I really think we are going to lose him soon.
Hopefully we can get him to surgery in the next couple of days. But we don't really know if they can do anything yet not till will can get the specialist to see him. We are going to have to drive him to England because that is were the specialist is.

Right update lol, Phoned vet and told them I wasn't letting my boy go through this anymore. So Dave the very nice and caring vet drove here and gave Stark's a Morphine injection. It was really nice to him him relax all his muscles and get some sleep :. Dave has taken him to the practice to make sure he gets the right pain relief and to keep him sedated and stress free so he can rest. While this is happening the spinal vet can see his x-rays and tell us what are options are. I feel better now as Starsky isn't in any pain and we seem to be moving along now. So there we are.

Sorry for using the Garden as a kind of running blog lol.
But I have awesome news :D
Not long got of the phone to the vet, well our vet said that they were not going to referral Starski to specialist. As the specialist has looked at the X-ray and said that, "yes Starski has back issue, but not enough to warrant the amount of pain, and the fact he can't walk. and to start looking for something else."
So poor pup has been prodded and poked and at last we have found the problem. For the past few months Starski has been treated for an ear infection. Every time we have been for check ups I've had the vet look at his ears and give us antibiotics. Well on Monday when we took for his back again, he was giving different ear drops. And it was found he had a really, really nasty bacterial infection his ears were full of puss. Because of all the puss they couldn't see his inner ear had perforated. So the collapsing and not being able to walk came from a blown ear drum. No balance and horrific pain! oh oh and he had toxic reaction to the ear drops poor git :(
Yay! ok maybe not Yay but hay no more maybe we are going to have to put him to sleep. And if the vets weren't as caring as mine are he could of been sliced and diced.

Hi Sam, We got him back yesterday. I didn't think he would still be so poorly but he really is. So wobbly on his feet and crys alot! Back to the vets Monday to see how his doing. Has lots of shaving patches on him where they did stuff. Looks like his been abducted by alien's lol. Then next week we drive to England to see the spinal surgeon. Don't know if his ear will repair, hope so as his balance is really bad. Start of a long path to recovery me thinks.
