The rather unhelpful answer here is that no-one can tell you if you're done 'the right thing' except for yourself.... sorry....

All I can say is that dwelling on it won't be good for you... better (only in my opinion of course) to treat this as as a 'goodbye' - don't dwell on what you've done, let it pass through into memory and move on. If your ex does find the tin, (with no hints of course)... well, take it from there when it happens. It sounded like a very beautiful ritual, I hope it brings you some peace.

I feel, that if her love is true, she will find the tin, otherwise she will need a good metal detector to find it. She needs to feel the love inside to be drawn.
